Amanda Van Voorhis has been added to the Brown women's basketball coaching staff, announced Head Coach Jean Marie Burr. Van Voorhis comes to Brown from Salve Regina University, where she spent seven seasons as the head coach of the Seahawks.

"I am thrilled to join Jean Burr's coaching staff," said Van Voorhis. "I will work enthusiastically to achieve our recruiting goals and to bring an Ivy League title to College Hill."

While at Salve Regina, Van Voorhis compiled a 143-51 overall record (73.7 winning percentage). She guided the Seahawks to four Commonwealth Coast Conference Championships (CCC), as well as four NCAA appearances while setting school records for most victories in a season (25), and most consecutive victories (16). During the team's 2006-2007 campaign, the Seahawks won the CCC Championship and made it to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. She was named the Cox Media Rhode Island Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.

In 2001-2002, Van Voorhis was named Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Basketball Coach of the Year, and was also a New England Women's Basketball Association Coach of the Year nominee.

Prior to Salve Regina, Van Voorhis served as an assistant women's basketball coach at Ithaca College. In 1999-2000, her team finished with a 21-7 record, and was co-champions of the Empire Eight. The Bombers also won the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association Championships, and the Upper New York State ECAC Championships. Van Voorhis also assisted the men's tennis program and was a physical education instructor in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance. Before Ithaca, she was the assistant women's basketball coach at Western New England College from 1997-1998.
