Women’s Golf Finishes Fourth at Rain-Shortened CCSU Invite
New Britain, Conn. – The Boston University women’s golf team shot a 338 (+50) in the first and only round of the Central Connecticut State Invitational, finishing fourth in the nine-team event. The tournament, played at the Stanley Golf Course, was scheduled to run 36 holes over two days, however Saturday’s round was cancelled due to inclement weather. Brown University won the team title at 317 (+29), 14 strokes ahead of second-place Hartford and 21 shots better than BU. Individually, the Terriers were once again led by wunderkind freshman Allison Hamilton (Falmouth, Mass.), who shot an 81 (+9) to finish tied for ninth. Hamilton went out at two-over, 38, but struggled toward the end as the weather worsened and the course got tougher. She carded a 43 (+7) on the back nine. Gabrielle Dugre of Laval was the individual champion, shooting 76 (+4), four strokes better than Hamilton. Haley Goucher (Olathe, Kan.) turned in a strong performance, shooting 84 (+12) to place 17th – her highest showing of the season. Sophomore Hannah Barry (Union City, Calif.) fired an 85 (+13), good for an 18th-place tie, while Lauren Strong (Miami, Fla.) shot an 88 (T26th). Megan Doran (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) rounded out the Terrier scoring, shooting 91 (+19), good for 34th. BU returns to the links next weekend when the Terriers travel to Hempstead, N.Y. to play in the Hofstra Invitational. CCSU INVITATIONAL 1 Brown University 317 2. Hartford, U. of 331 3. Central Conn.
