Vendetti Named To STX/NFHCA Division I All-America Third Team
BOSTON - Boston University field hockey senior back Lauren Vendetti (Ashland, Mass. / Ashland) was named to the 2004 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-America Third Team, as announced by the NFHCA on Nov. 23. The award is the culmination of a tremendous season for Vendetti, who was named to the NFHCA Northeast Region All-Region First Team last week, in addition to being named to the NFHCA Division I North/South Senior All-Star Team on Oct. 25. She also garnered America East Conference All-Conference First Team honors for the Terriers, who won the America East regular-season championship. It marks the second straight season that the Terriers were represented on the All-America Third Team. In 2003, Celeste Hubbard was selected to the Third Team. Over the past 16 years, 24 Terriers have been named NFHCA All-Americans, including five who were named to the First Team. Vendetti was second on the team in scoring with 10 goals and 4 assists for 14 points. She was sixth in the conference in points per game (24), fifth in shots per game (3.1), and fifth in goals per game (0.55). She was also among league leaders in game-winning goals with three. This season, B.U. brought a young team to the field but finished with a 13-7 record, and made its first America East championship game appearance since 2000. The Terriers fell to Northeastern, 2-0, in the final. They finished 19th in the final NFHCA Division I national poll.
