Alcorta Named Division I Field Hockey All-American

Kenney Named a Third-Team Field Hockey All-American

BOSTON - (Nov. 22) Senior midfielder Jessica Alcorta (Demarest, NJ) was named to the Astroturf/ National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-America First Team. She is the first Boston University player to receive this honor since Michele Barnard ('97) in 1996.

She was a third-team All-America selection in 1998. The selection is the latest in a series of honors for Alcorta, who is the 1999 America East Player of the Year, a first team All-Conference selection, and an NFHCA Northeast Regional All-American. She also represented the North in the North-South Senior All-Star Game played last Saturday at Northeastern University.

The Demarest native finished the season with 10 assists, which was second in America East. She will graduate in fourth place on the University's all-time assists list with 38 for her career. She also finished with 50 career points, which is 14th-best in program history.

Alcorta's performance this season helped lead Boston University to a 17-6 record, tying a team record for most wins in a season. The Terriers were a perfect 8-0 in conference play, earning the America East regular-season and tournament championships.

The Terriers made their sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament, where they bowed to Massachusetts in overtime, 2-1, on November 13 at Storrs, CT. A 1995 graduate of North Valley Regional High School, Alcorta is currently enrolled in the University's School of Education.
