DURHAM, N.H. - Junior Sarah Shute (Lincolnville, Maine) tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Boston University field hockey team to a 3-1 road victory over New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon in the America East opener for both squads. The Terriers upped their win streak to four with the win and improved to 6-4 overall.

Shute got the Terriers on the board first with a goal in the ninth minute and the visitors tacked on two more in the following 20 minutes of play to give the visitors a commanding 3-0 lead at the break. UNH ended BU's shutout bid 12:29 into the second half.

"It's nice to open the conference season with a win, especially on the road," said head coach Sally Starr. "When we possessed the ball, we played good hockey and it was great to see us put together a productive first half."

All three of the Terriers' goals were assisted, as junior Pam Spuehler (Sudbury, Mass.) set up the initial goal with a pass from the middle of the circle to the right post, where Shute was there for the redirect to the back of the cage at the 8:41 mark.

Shute helped BU make it a 2-0 affair with under 14 minutes to play in the opening stanza, slotting a pass to classmate Hadley Adams (Barre, Mass.), who was open near the far post. Adams pushed the ball in for her third goal of the season.

A highlight-reel tally capped the Terriers' first-half scoring, as freshman Suus Dekker (Rotterdam, Holland) redirected the ball high inside the left post on a pass from the left wing from junior Sarah Hudak (Harleysville, Pa.).

Eleven different Terriers recorded at least one shot on goal, helping the visitors hold a 22-8 advantage in shots. BU earned eight penalty corners to the Wildcats' six.

UNH netminder Margaux Shute made 13 saves on the day, including seven in the first half, while co-captain Erin Prediger (Telford, Pa.) recorded three saves to earn the win in goal for the Terriers.

BU will look to push its win streak to five when it closes out the weekend with a road contest at Brown on Sunday. Game time is 2 p.m.
