Women's Rowing Named EAWRC Crew of the Week

BOSTON – Recognized for its win over then 13th-ranked Radcliffe (Harvard) last weekend, the No. 17 Boston University women’s rowing team was named the Co-EAWRC Crew of the Week, as announced by the ECAC on May 1. The Terriers, who now hold a 6-7 record heading into the Eastern Sprints, shared this week’s honor with fifth-ranked Brown.

Behind by a length at the split, BU battled back to post a 1.6-second victory over Radcliffe and capture the Allen-DeWolfe trophy on April 29. It marked just the second time that BU won the trophy since its inception in 1998, and it was the first Terrier victory in the event since 2001.

After the win over their cross-river rival, the Terriers returned to the national rankings at No. 17 after a three-week hiatus. Meanwhile, the Scarlet and White made a move from No. 7 to No. 5 in the final EAWRC Coaches Poll, which determines the seedings for the upcoming Eastern Sprints in Camden, N.J.

BU and the rest of the 16 EAWRC member schools will vie for the Eastern title on Sunday, May 14 on Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
