Terriers Rout Blue Devils, 79-49
BOSTON - Senior guard Katie Terhune (Port Murray, NJ) scored a game-high 23 points to lead four Terriers in double-figure scoring as the B.U. women's basketball team breezed by Central Connecticut State, 79-49, at Detrick Gymnasium on Wednesday, Dec. 10. Along with Terhune, sophomore guard Katie Meinhardt (San Francisco, CA) netted 17 points in her return to the Terriers' lineup. Meinhardt, who missed the Terriers' most recent game against Fordham on Dec. 3 with a bone bruise on her foot, hit 6-of-9 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Junior forwards Adrienne Norris (Delafield, WI) and Larissa Parr (Eau Claire, WI) had 11 and 10 points, respectively. B.U. (2-3) shot a blazing 60.0 percent from the field in the first half as the Terriers took a 39-21 lead into the break. "We played an unbelievable 20 minutes," said Terrier head coach Margaret McKeon. "We need to play a solid 40 minutes, but that will come eventually." Terhune scored 10 of the Terriers first 12 points in the second half as B.U. extended its lead to 51-26 at 16:58. A pair of free throws from Norris gave B.U. its largest lead of the contest, 66-32, with 11:10 left to play. With the bench cleared, the Terriers led by no less than 26 points for the remainder of the game. B.U. shot 54.2 percent for the game, including 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from three-point range. The Blue Devils (2-5) committed 25 turnovers, while the Terriers were credited with a season-high 17 steals. Terhune had a team-high five steals in the game. Converting turnovers into points led to a season-high 20 assists for the Terriers. Senior forward Marisa Moseley (Springfield, MA) had a team-high four assists. The Blue Devils held a 38-36 advantage on the boards, as Gabriella Guegbelet had a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with her team-high 19 points. Norris led the Terriers with nine rebounds. The Terriers play the second of three consecutive road games when they take on Harvard University on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2:00 p.m. "We've got a tough game on Sunday," said McKeon. "It should be a dogfight, and I'm looking forward to it."
