Terriers Pick Up Third Straight Win, Drop Albany, 77-60
Albany, N.Y. - A total team effort propelled Boston University to its third consecutive win as the Terriers defeated the University at Albany, 77-60, at the RACC on Saturday, Jan. 31. Junior forward Becky Bonner (Concord, NH) led four scorers in double-figures with a game-high 19 points as B.U. (10-7, 5-3) captured its fifth win in six games. Becky Ayers led the Great Danes (5-12, 2-6) with 18 points. Eight different Terriers contributed points in the first half as B.U. held a 38-30 lead at the break. Jen Schumacher scored 10 of her 14 points in the game during the opening half to pace Albany. Danielle Hutcheson scored in the paint to close the gap to 56-51 with 8:03 left to play. Following a B.U. timeout, the Terriers outscored the Great Danes, 15-2, over the next five minutes to put the game out of reach. As a team, B.U. enjoyed its most dominating performance on the glass, out-rebounding Albany, 45-30, including 21 offensive rebounds. Four of Bonner's team-high nine rebounds were offensive. Junior forward Adrienne Norris (Delafield, WI) had eight rebounds to go along with her 10 points, four assists, four blocks, and two steals. B.U. shot a season-best 85.7 percent from the free throw line, hitting 24 of a season-high 28 attempts. Senior guard Katie Terhune (Port Murray, NJ) was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line and finished with 16 points and four rebounds. Senior forward Marisa Moseley (Springfield, MA) had 11 points, six rebounds, and three steals while junior forward Larissa Parr (Eau Claire, WI) added eight points and six boards. Freshman guards Nadia Bibbs (Oak Forest, IL) and Meredith Onson (Oshkosh, WI) were solid in the backcourt. Bibbs had eight points, three steals, and three rebounds while Onson had six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and no turnovers. The Terriers have compiled a 5-1 record since Onson was inserted into the starting lineup. Up next, B.U. hosts New Hampshire on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 7:00 p.m.
