Terriers Snap Two Game Losing Streak and Surpass Last Season's Win Total
PHILADELPHIA, PA (Jan. 30) -- Alison Dixon, Dia Dufault, and Alison Argentieri combined for 60 points in Boston University's (6-13, 2-8), 76-64, win over Drexel (8-12, 4-6)January 30th in Philadelphia. The win was the Terriers' sixth of the season, giving them more wins than they had all of last season. Trailing 22-16 with 9:04 to play in the first half, the Terriers went on a 20-0 run to open up a comfortable 36-22 lead with 1:39 to play in the first half. The 20-0 run was the biggest of the season for the Terriers. Alison Dixon, who scored team-high 23 points, put the Terriers ahead for a good with a lay up with 7:12 remaining in the opening half. The 23-points that Dixon scored marked the sixth time this season in which she has scored 20 or more points this season. The Terriers led 38-28 at halftime, shooting 55 percent from the field (16-of-29). To begin the second half, B.U. outscored Drexel 11-4 to open its biggest lead of the game at 51-32 with 16:33 to play. The Dragons came back to cut the Terrier lead to 70-64 with 33 seconds to play, but B.U. staved off the comeback by converting 9-of-10 free-throws down the stretch to seal the 76-64 win. Alison Argentieri 19 points, and Dia Dufault 18 points were the other Terriers in double figures. Rachel Werner had a team-high seven rebounds off the bench, and Dufault added six rebounds and five assists. The Terriers shot 50.9 percent for the game (28-of-55) from the field, and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line (16-of-18). Dixon, who is sixth on B.U.'s all-time scoring list, now has 1,143 career points. B.U. is off until Saturday, February 5th, when they host Northeastern at 1 p.m. on 'The Roof'.
