BOSTON -Freshman forward Larissa Parr (Eau Claire, WI) scored a career-high 17 points and had a team-high nine rebounds in the Terriers' 62-54 win over America East leader Binghamton on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 26) at Case Gymnasium.

The victory avenged B.U.'s 64-40 loss at Binghamton on Jan. 11 and improved the Terriers' record to 11-7 on the season and 4-3 in conference play.

"Parr had an exceptional game," said Terrier head coach Margaret McKeon following her team's third-straight victory. "She played great defense on #44 (Binghamton's leading-scorer Sarah Cartmill) and rebounded extremely well."

The Terriers' defense held the Bearcats to just one field goal in the opening eight minutes of the first half as B.U. jumped out to an early 11-3 lead at 12:07. Binghamton cut the lead to 19-16 at 6:36 as Cartmill scored two of her team-high 14 points.

The Terriers took a 25-20 lead into halftime and came into the contest with a 10-2 record when leading at the break.

Brooke Kelly cut the B.U.'s lead to 29-28 with a three-pointer at 16:39, but the Bearcats would get no closer, as the Terriers took off on an 18-8 run midway through the second half.

Freshman forward Adrienne Norris (Delafield, WI) took on two defenders in the paint and dished the ball to sophomore forward Marisa Moseley (Longmeadow, MA) for an open lay-in to give B.U. a 44-36 advantage at 8:06 in the second half.

Sophomore guard Katie Terhune (Port Murray, NJ) extended the Terriers lead to 47-36 at 6:40 on a three-pointer from the top of the key. Parr pushed the ball up past mid-court to find an open Norris under the basket for an easy lay-up as the Terriers led, 49-37 at 6:18.

Binghamton attempted to the close the gap, pressuring full-court and snagging two steals for lay-ups and trailed 52-47 with less than five minutes remaining.

The Terriers sealed the win at the free throw line, sinking 8-of-10 free throws in the final three minutes of the game.

"We knew we had to play smart today," said McKeon. "Binghamton is a team that doesn't beat itself. We had to make free throws and not turn the ball over. I think this is the first time since I've been at B.U. that we've played such a smart game."

Terhune finished the game with 17 points, hitting 9-of-10 from the free throw line, and grabbed six rebounds. Norris scored 13 points with seven boards.

Nicole Dypolt and Leala Wegwerth joined Cartmill in double figure scoring. Dypolt had 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting while Wegwerth added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Binghamton had a slight advantage on the glass, out-rebounding the Terriers, 44-41. Cartmill had a game-high 12 boards.

The win snapped a five-game winning streak for the Bearcats who fall to 14-4 on the season and 5-2 in the America East.

Up next, the Terriers travel to Hartford on Wednesday, Jan. 30 to take on the Hawks. Game time is 7 p.m.
