Terriers Defeat Albany, 68-55

BOSTON, MA (Jan. 18th)- Boston University's Alison Dixon scored a game-high 20 points on eight-of-11 shooting to lead four Terriers in double-figures in a, 68-55, non-conference win over Albany at "The Roof".

B.U. (5-10) opened the game with a 17-3 run as freshman guard Alison Argentieri scored eight of her 14 points in the first 6:22 to put the Terriers out in front.

The Terrier built their to as many as 17 at 25-9 with 11:06 before the Great Danes put together a run.

Albany (5-11) responded to the deficit with a 7-0 run on a jumper by Melissa Schoonover and a pair of free throws by Chris Gray and Jess McGinlay.

B.U. held off the Albany spurt and led at halftime 36-26.

At the break, the Terriers shot 46.4 percent from the field (13-of-28), while Albany managed to shoot just 25.8 percent (8-of-31). Sixteen of the Great Danes' field goal attempts were from three-point territory.

In the second half, Albany scored the first four points to close the gap to four, 36-32, with 17:27 to play. That's as close the Danes would come as B.U. seemed to have an answer for every Albany run.

B.U. went on a 10-2 to run to open a comfortable 12-point lead, 46-34, with 12:23 to play. Dixon, who scored 20 points for the fourth time this season and the 33rd time in her 69 game career, scored six points in the run.

Leading 54-47 with 6:39 to play, B.U.'s Dia Dufault scored four consecutive points to stave another Albany run.

Dufault finished the game with 16 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

The Terriers made eight-of-nine free throws in the final 1:01 of the game to earn their fifth win of the season and end a four-game losing streak.

B.U. shot 17-of-23 from the free throw line for 73.9 percent, including nine-of-10 in the second half. The Terriers shot 50 percent from the field (24-of-48).

The Terriers' other player in double-figurers tonight was Anne Nelson, who finished with a career-high tying 12 points.

Lauren O'Brien and Dawn DiMicco paced Albany with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

B.U. is back in action on Thursday, January 20th when they host Vermont in an America East conference game at 7 p.m. on The Roof.
