Terriers Lose At Towson



TOWSON, MD (Jan. 14) - Alison Dixon scored a game-high 19 points and Dia Dufault added 13 points and nine rebounds, but Towson's balanced scoring was too much for the Terriers to overcome in a 83-44 loss.

The Tigers (4-9, 2-4) jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and never trailed en route to a 49-25 halftime lead.

The closest the Terriers (4-9, 1-4) would get on the night was five points at 12-7 with 15:16 remaining in the first half.

Towson reeled off a 15-2 run over the next five minute to extend its lead to 18, at 25-7 with 10:21 to play in the first half.

Dixon and Anne Nelson (four points) scored the next four points to bring the deficit down to 14 at 25-11 with 8:31 to play in the first 20 minutes.

B.U. trailed 49-25 at halftime and never recovered. The Terriers shot 35 percent in the first half (7-of-20), while the Tigers converted 52.9 percent of their attempts (18-of-34).

To open the second half, Towson went on a 13-0 run in the first 5:44 and lead 62-25.

The deficit swelled to 45, 81-36, with 1:29 to play.

The Terriers shot 26.9 percent for the game (14-of-52), and made 14-of-27 free throws (51.9 percent).

Towson shot 48.5 percent (32-of-66) and forced 27 Terrier turnovers, while committing just 11.
