Terhune Scores 21, Terriers Fall at Vermont, 69-62
Burlington, VT - Freshman forward Katie Terhune scored a game-high 21 points, but it wasn't enough as the Boston University women's basketball team continued its losing streak, falling to Vermont, 69-62 in Burlington. The Terriers have dropped five games in a row, and have yet to win in the month of January. Terhune was the only Terrier to reach double figures, hitting eight of 17 field goals and five of her six free throws. Junior forward Dia Dufault scored nine points and had nine rebounds, and sophomore guard Alison Argentieri had nine points, going three of four from beyond the three point line. Vermont (9-7, 5-2) was led by junior guard Libby Smith, who scored 20 points. Sophomore guards Morgan Hall and Dawn Cressman also were in double figures, scoring 16 and 12 points, respectively. The Terriers trailed 34-24 at the half, but shot 52 percent in the second half to outscore the Catamounts 38-35 in the period. Vermont, though, countered by shooting an even 50 percent from the field. Freshman guard Courtney Jones played all 40 minutes for the Terriers, scoring eight points and handing out eight assists. B. U. (5-11, 2-5) next travel to Hartford, Conn. to face the Hartford Hawks on Jan. 21. Game time is 2 p.m.
