BOSTON, MA -- The Flying Dutchwomen (7-4, 1-2) opened the game with a 9-0 run and never looked back in downing the Terriers (4-8, 1-3), 72-29, in America East women's basketball action Tuesday before 219 on "The Roof".

B.U. was troubled by poor shooting all night and connected on their first field goal at the 8:03 mark of the first half as sophomore guard Dia Dufault (Malone, NY) made a layup. Junior forward Alison Dixon (Norwood, MA), who was honored before the game for becoming the second fastest Terrier to reach 1000 points, hit a jumper for the Terriers only other field goal of the half.

The Terriers trailed 31-16 at halftime and shot only 10 % (2-of-20) from the field. Hofstra meanwhile connected on 14-of-35 field goals for 40 %.

In the second half, Hofstra opened the game stretching their lead to 36, 56-20, with 9:17 to play. Noreen Duffy and Jennifer Brickey paced the Flying Dutchwomen with 15 points apiece.

Werner's field goal with 9:03 to play was B.U.'s last of the game.

Hofstra outscored B.U. 16-3 the rest way en route to the win.

The six field goals and 29 points scored by B.U. are all-time lows. The previous lowest point total for B.U. was 34 points at Rhode Island on February 27, 1978. The 43-point loss was the Terriers' worst since a 94-47 loss at Vermont on February 13, 1997.

B.U. returns to action on Friday, January 14, 2000, when they travel to Towson to play the Tigers at 7 p.m.
