Men's Distance-Medley Team Shatters School Record
Distance Medley Results | IC4A Day One Results SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Boston University men’s indoor distance-medley team shattered the school record Friday, competing at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind. The team, comprised of seniors Nick Goodman and Matt Howard, and juniors Pat Hoye and David Proctor, also reached a NCAA Provisional mark, running the race in 9:43.21. The record broke the previous school record set in 1997 with a time of 9:45.34. Goodman ran the first leg of the race, completing the 1200-meters near the three-minute mark. The Watertown, Mass. native, who is currently ranked nationally for the mile, was competing with an injured ankle. Howard took over at Goodman, running the 400 meters in 47.4 seconds After Howard, Hoye competed in the 800 meters, handing the baton off in just about 1:53. Before Friday’s race, Hoye’s best time in the 800 this season was 1:55.64 posted during the Valentine Meet on Feb. 9. Proctor finished the race for the Terriers, running the mile in 4:01, and helping the team finish in 17th place. Although the team didn’t qualify for nationals, Proctor will still represent the team competing individually in the mile. “There were probably 10 to 12 of the top mile runners at the meet,” Proctor said. “It was a great honor to run against so many big names on a national level. Proctor ran a sub four-minute mile during the Terrier Invitational Jan. 27. He is currently ranked second in the country for his time of 3:59.14. The NCAA Indoor Championships is held on March 9-10 in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Randal Tyson Track Center. On Monday, March 5, at 7 p.m. the NCAA will make its selections for the championship. Back in Boston, freshman Logan Moore sits in tenth place for the Terriers through one day of competition in the heptathlon at the IC4A Championships. Moore ran the 55 in 7.18, had a leap of 5.72 in the long jump, threw 14 meters for the shot put and hit a height of 1.69 meter for the high jump. Junior Greg Daggett sits in 13th place, going 7.10 in the 55, 6.06 in the long jump, 10.06 in the shot put and 1.75 in the high jump. On Sunday, both will finish out the competition with the 55-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000 meters.
