Wrestling Earns Weekend Road Split
Highlighted by a 42-9 victory at Wagner on Sunday afternoon, the Boston University wrestling team earned a weekend road split to move to 5-8 on the year. The victory improved BU's CAA record to 3-5. On Saturday, the Terriers dropped a 22-15 decision at East Stroudsburg. Only five matches in the Wagner dual were contested, as the Seahawks were unable to fill four weight classes and the Terriers forfeited the 133-pound bout. Each team forfeited one match at ESU on Saturday. Redshirt freshman Mike Roberts picked up a pair of wins at 149, posting an 11-4 decision over ESU's Chris Sullivan before edging Wagner's Justin Ensign, 6-5. Senior Tom Sforza went up a weight class to 197 and recorded a 4-2 victory over ESU's Sean McCracken. Redshirt freshman Chris Tripp was victorious over his ESU counterpart, securing a 4-3 decision over Dave Williams at 174. Freshman Bryan Matsuura rebounded from a loss on Saturday by posting his second pin of the season. The rookie registered the fall at 6:11 of his 125-pound match against Wagner's Mike Rooney to give BU an early 6-0 lead. Later in the match, senior Zach Johns (165) registered the Terriers' second pin of the day at the 6:08 mark against Nick Magaraldi. Freshman Orey Hall closed out the match with a 6-2 triumph over John Cichon in the heavyweight bout.
