Riffett and Hlavaty Earn topdrawersoccer.com Honors
BOSTON—Senior goalie Zach Riffett (Brenham, Tex.) and sophomore midfielder Neil Hlavaty (Lombard, Ill.) each earned spots on topdrawsoccer.com’s Team of the Year Fourth Team. Riffett, who finished 2006 ranked 12th in the nation in goals against average (GAA) (0.624) and 17th in save percentage (.838), started 17-of-18 games played this past season. He played 1731:10 and allowed just 12 goals, while making 62 saves. Riffett ended the year with an 8-4-5 overall record. He led a defense that shut out eight opponents and limited foes to one or fewer goals in 18-of-19 games played. The senior played all 213:25 in the America East conference tournament and allowed one goal for a GAA of 0.42 and made eight total saves in those two games for a save percentage of 88.9 percent to earn his first America East All-Championship team selection. This is Hlavaty’s second recognition from topdrawersoccer.com. The sophomore was named to the site’s All-Rookie team a season ago. Hlavaty received 2006 first team All-America East honors a year after earned a spot on the conference All-Rookie team. He started 18-of-19 games and was third on the team in scoring with four goals and two assists for ten points. The sophomore posted the game-winner in the 1-0 decision over the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Sept. 3. Senior Steve Gahl (Kensington, Md.) also received post-season recognition.
