ON THE AIR: The game will be broadcast on WCRN-AM (830) and WWZN-AM (1510), Boston. Bernie Corbett will do the play-by-play, while Tom Ryan will handle the color. The game will also be televised live on Fox Sports New England.

SERIES HISTORY: Tonight marks the 64th time since the 1983-84 season that the Terriers and River Hawks will be playing, and the Terriers hold a marked advantage with 48 wins. UML has 11 victories, while there have been 4 ties…The Terriers built up their series lead during the first half of the rivalry. They went 9-0-1 during the first 10 games. Then, after losing for the first time in a 3-2 loss at Tully Forum on November 22, 1986, they strung together a 21-game stretch during which they were 20-0-1. Thus, in the first 32 games of the series, the Terriers amassed a 29-1-2 record. During the last 31 games, the Terriers hold a 19-10 advantage with 2 ties…The River Hawks' best stretch came in the last 7 games during which they are 4-3-0. They swept the three-game series during the 2000-01 season as they skated to 4-2 and 3-2 wins at Tsongas Arena and a 4-1 win at Brown Arena. UML brought its win streak over the Terriers to four games when it defeated B.U., 3-2, in last year's series opener at Tsongas. The Terriers bounced back to win games two and three last year-5-1 at Brown Arena and 5-3 at Tsongas and 3-2 in the first meeting this year…There have been just four shutouts in the first 63 meetings, and B.U. has all four. The Terriers blanked the River Hawks, 8-0, in the series opener on November 4, 1983. The next season, B.U. posted a 5-0 shutout on October 28, 1984. The remaining two shutouts were also by that 5-0 score-on October 31, 1987 and on January 21, 2000…In all, the Terriers have outscored UML, 304-183, in the series history.

AT TSONGAS ARENA: The Terriers are 4-4-0 at Tsongas Arena…The Terriers' last win here was on February 16, 2002, when they skated to a 5-3 win. That victory ended a three-game UML win streak here. In fact, the River Hawks had won 4-of-5 here after the Terriers had won the first 2 games played here.

FIFTH ANNIVERSARY SINCE FIRST GAME: Tonight marks the fifth anniversary since the first game these two teams played here. On February 14, 1998, the Terriers skated to a 5-1 win. The second time they played at Tsongas, B.U. prevailed again by a 5-3 score on December 11, 1998. The River Hawks broke the streak on January 29, 1999, with a 4-1 win to begin a string in which they won 4-of-5 vs. the Terriers.

RECORD IN LOWELL: The Terriers' overall record in Lowell is 19-8-3 (.683). It includes a 15-4-3 (.750) mark at Tully Forum and a 4-4-0 (.500) record at Tsongas.

RECAPPING THIS YEAR'S PREVIOUS MEETING: For almost 55 minutes of action, the River Hawks had control of the game as they led 1-0 until late in the game. Then, over a span of 5:05, B.U. scored three times, while UML scored just once, as the Terriers came away with a 3-2 win. Below is a statistical recap of the game.

POST-BEANPOT RECORD: Tonight marks the Terriers' first game since they skated to a 3-2 win over BC last Monday night to win their 25th Beanpot in the 51-year history of the mid-winter classic…During the first 50 years of the Tournament, the Terriers compiled a 32-14-4 record in games after the Beanpot…In games after they have won the Beanpot, they are 16-5-3…However, in the last 5 years, they are 1-3-1 in their post-Beanpot games, while they are 1-2-1 in the 4 years they won the Tournament…The Terriers' most successful decade in post-Beanpot games was the Seventies during which they were 9-0-1. In the years in which the won the Beanpot, they were 6-0-1…During the Nineties, the team was 6-2-2. In the years in which they won the Tournament, they were 4-2-2.

SIXTH TIME THEY ARE PLAYING THE RIVER HAWKS: Since the 1990 Beanpot, the Terriers have played UML 5 times in the game right after the Beanpot, and they are 3-1-1 against them. The wins came on February 16, 1990 (5-2 at Tully Forum), February 14, 1997 (6-1 at Tully), and February 15, 2002 (5-1 at Brown Arena). The loss came on February 13, 1998 (5-2 at Brown Arena), while the tie was on February 14, 1992 (2-2 at Tully Forum).

COMING IN ON FOUR-GAME WINNING STREAK: The Terriers come into tonight's game with a three-game winning streak and winners of 5 of their last 6. The streak began with a 5-2 win over the University of New Hampshire on 1/23. After a 3-0 loss to the Wildcats two days later, the Terriers have come back with wins over Merrimack, 5-0, on 1/30; over Harvard, 2-1, in the Beanpot opener on 1/3; over UMass, 2-0, last Friday, 2/7, and over BC, 3-2, in the Beanpot title game last Monday, 2/10...During the four-game winning streak, they have outscored their opponents, 12-3. They are 4-of-19 (.211) on the power play, while they are nearly perfect killing penalties as they are 21-of-22 (.955). Senior Brian Collins leads the team with 2 goals, both of which have come on the power play, while he is tied with 5 others for the team lead in scoring with 3 points. FIELDS IN THE LAST FOUR GAMES: Junior goalie Sean Fields is in the midst of the best 4-game stretch of his collegiate career. He is 4-0-0 with a pair of shutouts. He now has 4 this season, which is the third-highest single-season total in school history and 6 for his career, which ties him for the fourth-best total in B.U. history…In the last 4 games, he has a 0.75 GAA and a .973 save percentage. Vs. Merrimack: He had 24 saves, 10 of which came in the third period, in the 5-0 blanking of the Warriors at Brown Arena on 1/30…It was the 3rd time in his career that he has shut out Merrimack. In his college debut on 11/4/00, he had 25 saves in a 3-0 win. Then, last season, on 10/28/01, he had 25 saves in a 4-0 victory. Vs. Harvard: In last Monday night's Beanpot opener, he turned aside 28-of-29 (.966 save percentage) Crimson shots in the 2-1 win. His busiest period was the third in which he turned aside all 16 Harvard shots. Vs. UMass: In last Friday night's 2-0 blanking of the Minutemen, he had 25 saves en route to his 4th shutout of the season. Earlier in the year, he shut out Harvard (3-0 with 36 saves on 11/26) and Northeastern (4-0 with 31 saves on 1/4)…In the UMass win, Fields was busiest in the 2nd period with 11 saves. Vs. Boston College: In Monday night's win over the Eagles in the Beanpot title game, he had 31 saves. His efforts earned him the Tournament MVP and Eberly Trophy. The latter is presented to the goalie with the best save percentage in the two games. With 59 saves in 62 shots on net, he finished with a .950 save percentage…In the win over BC, he was busiest in the 2nd period with 14 saves, while he had 12 in the 3rd period.

MOST SHUTOUTS IN 34 YEARS: The 4 shutouts this year are the most by one goalie since the 1968-69 season when Jim McCann shut out 4 opponents… The Terrier record for shutouts in a season is 8 by Jack Ferreira in 1964-65. Ferreira also holds the record for career shutouts with 8 from 1963-66. At that time, freshmen were not eligible to play varsity hockey. Thus, he achieved his record in just 3 seasons.

Sean Fields will be starting his 18th straight game when the Terriers meet the River Hawks.

FIELDS HAS STARTED 17 STRAIGHT: Fields has started the Terriers' last 17 games. The last time he watched the action from the bench was against Cornell on November 30th. In those 17 games, he has an 11-6-0 record along with a 2.12 GAA and a .922 save percentage…During one stretch, he had a six-game winning streak in which he had a 1.52 GAA and a .943 save percentage…Both offensively and defensively, his teammates have been supporting him during this 17-game stretch, as they have outscored their opponents, 56-36…In special teams' play, they are 16-of-86 (.186) on the power play, while they have killed off 79-of-92 (.859) chances by their opponents.

FIELDS VS. THE RIVER HAWKS: Including his 3-2 win earlier this season, Fields has a career record of 3-3-0 vs. the River Hawks. He has a 2.69 GAA and an .899 save percentage to go along with win-loss record…Fields lost his first 3 career decisions to the River Hawks but has come back to win his last 3. His single-best high in saves was 36 in the last November's game at Brown Arena…However, he has a losing record at Tsongas Arena. He is 1-3-0 with a 3.29 GAA and an .857 save percentage…His only win here came on February 16, 2002, when he had 15 saves in a 5-3 win.

BEST VS. THE RIVER HAWKS: Of this year's team, Brian Collins has enjoyed the most success against UML as the senior forward has 2-4-6 in 10 previous games. Collins leads the team in assists, while John Sabo, who is second in scoring with 3-2-5, is tied with Kenny Magowan in goals with 3. Sabo has played in 10 games vs. the River Hawks, while Magowan has played in 6 games.

PARKER RECORD: Now in his 30th year as the Terriers' head coach, Jack Parker comes into tonight's game with an overall record of 673-335-66 for a .657 winning percentage…He is the active winningest college hockey coach with the 673 victories, while he is third in winning percentage.

Terrier head coach Jack Parker could tie Len Ceglarski with a win over the River Hawks.

PARKER COULD TIE CEGLARSKI: A win tonight would move Parker into a tie with former Clarkson and Boston College coach Len Ceglarski for third place on the all-time coaches' win list. Ceglarski amassed 674 wins during his career. The all-time winningest coach is former Michigan State coach Ron Mason, whose team posted 924 wins. Bemidji State's Bob Peters is second with 744 wins.

COACHES AGAINST EACH OTHER: Parker has an all-time record of 5-2-1 (.714 winning percentage) record against MacDonald. This includes a 2-1-0 (.667) mark when MacDonald was the coach at Niagara, while Parker is 3-1-0 (.750) against MacDonald at UML…Parker is 1-1-0 (.500) against MacDonald at Tsongas Arena.

PARKER VS. RIVER HAWKS: The Terrier coach has an all-time record of 48-11-4 (.794) against the River Hawks. He was 23-1-1 (.940) vs. Billy Riley, Jr. from 1983-91, 13-3-2 (.778) vs. Bruce Crowder from 1991-96, 9-6-1 (.594) vs. Tim Whitehead from 1996-2001; and, as mentioned above, is 3-1-0 (.750) vs. Blaise MacDonald…Parker is 4-4-0 (.500) at Tsongas Arena.

11-5-0 IN THEIR LAST FIFTEEN GAMES: The Terriers have an 11-4-0 record in their last 15 games…During this 15-game stretch, they have nearly doubled their opponents' goal output, 51-26. By period, the Terriers have outscored their opponents, 17-5 in the first, 16-11 in the second, and 18-9 in the third… They have given up 1 goal in overtime to Providence on 1/9… Eighteen players have at least one goal, while 21 players have at least one point. Frantisek Skladany (7-6-13) leads the team in both goals and points, while Bryan Miller (2-7-9) leads the team in assists…Sean Fields is 11-4-0 with a 1.74 GAA and a .935 save percentage during this stretch…Sixteen of the Terriers' 51 goals have come on special teams-15 on the power play and one shorthanded goal. Skladany: Despite being held without a point in his last 5 games, Skladany remains the Terriers' strongest offensive threat with 7-6-13. Fifteen games ago, in the Terriers' 5-4 loss to UMass on 12/6, he was a healthy scratch. It was the first game he had missed all season. He returned to action the next night and had a goal in the Terriers' 3-1 victory over the Minutemen. Since then, he has been the team's most productive point-scorer with 7-6-13 in 13 games. He has 3 multiple-point games, including his 1-2-3 vs. UNH on 1/23. On 12/6, the night he was a healthy scratch, he was the team's fourth-leading scorer with 1-8-9. As a result of this offensive tear, he has jumped to the scoring lead on the team with 8-14-22. Collins: After getting off to a slow start with 1-4-5 through the team's first 15 games, he is in a scoring groove with 6-6-12 in the last 15 games. He comes into tonight's game with 7-10-17, which ties him for 6th on the team in scoring. Five of his 7 goals have come on the power play, which gives him the team lead. Mullen: Second on the team in scoring with 8-13-21, he has 5-6-11 in the last 15 games. He is enjoying his best offensive season as a Terrier with 21 points in 30 games. Last year, he had 8-9-17 in 38 games. Meyer: The team's top-scoring defenseman with 5-13-18, he has 3-6-9 in the past 15 games. The team captain, he is tied for 4th on the team overall in scoring coming into tonight's game. Sabo: The team leader in goals with 10, he has 3-6-9 in the past 14 games. In the past 4 games, he has 1-2-3. He has equaled his best goal-scoring total for a season with his 10. Last season, which had been his best, he had 10 in 37 games. Magowan: Tied for 5th on the team in assists with 10, he comes into tonight's game with 4-5-9 in the last 14 games. In the past 15 games, he has 3-6-9. Miller: As noted above, his 7 assists lead the team over the past 15 games, while he also has 2 goals to account for his 9 points. He is the second-leading scorer among the defensemen with 3-14-17. VanderGulik: His goal vs. BC in the Beanpot title game on 2/10 brought his 15-game scoring total to 3-6-9…Overall, he has 6-7-13 in 29 games and is tied with Jekabs Redlihs as the top-scoring freshman on the team. Redlihs has 1-6-7 in the last 15 games to bring his season total to 4-9-13 in 29 games.

MILLER'S BEEN A PLUS: Sophomore defenseman Bryan Miller has a team-leading plus-18 this year. In addition, Miller is closing in on his freshman-year offensive totals. Last season, in 34 games, he had 4-15-19 and was the fourth-leading scorer among the freshmen as well as among all the defensemen. This year, in 30 games, he has 3-14-17. He is tied with Frantisek Skladany for the team lead in assists (14) and is second to Freddy Meyer (5-13-18) for scoring among the defensemen.

John Sabo has played in 141 games during his collegiate career.

COLLINS CONTINUES AS IRONMAN: Brian Collins comes into tonight's game having played in 147 straight games over the past three-plus years. He was in uniform, and had a goal, in the Terriers' 1999-2000 season-opener against the Air Force Academy at the Johnson Nissan Classic on October 9, 1999, and he has been in the lineup ever since…Senior assistant captain John Sabo is second on this year's team in games played with 141, including all 30 this year. The last game Sabo missed was vs. Boston College last January 20th. Since then, he has played in 48 straight games… Mark Mullen is also on a consecutive game streak, as he has not missed a game since Colorado College on November 25, 2000. Since then, he played in his last 26 games his freshman season, all 38 last year, and the team's 30 games this year. That's a stretch of 94 straight games.

COLLINS NEEDS 9 FOR 100: With his goal vs. UMass last Friday night, Collins brought his career total to 46 goals. Coupled with 45 assists, he comes into tonight's game with 91 career points. With another 9 points, he will become the 73rd player in Terrier hockey history to reach the 100-point total for his career.

FIVE HAVE PLAYED 30: Only 5 players have seen action in all 30 games this year. In addition to Collins, Sabo, and Mullen, the other 2 are sophomore Bryan Miller and freshman Brad Zancanaro.

IN THEIR WINS AND TIES THIS YEAR: In the 20 games in which the Terriers have either won (18) or tied (2) this year, they have outscored their opponents, 80-35. They have enjoyed a scoring edge in each period-26-11 in the first, 26-12 in the second, and 28-12 in the third …In special teams' play, they have converted on 22-of-107 (.206) power play chances, while the 20 opponents are 18-of-113 (.159)…Individually, Frantisek Skladany is leading the with in scoring with 7-11-18 in the 20 games…He is tied with John Sabo and Brian McConnell for the team lead in goals with 7. Skladany is tied with Bryan Miller for the lead in assists with 11. In all, 12 Terriers have scored 10 or more points in the 20 games…Sean Fields has a 1.62 GAA and a .941 save percentage in 19 of the 20 games (17 -0-2), while Stephan Siwiec has a 4.00 GAA and an .800 save percentage in one appearance (1-0-0).

IN THEIR LOSSES: In the Terriers' 10 losses, they have been outscored, 41-19. They have been outscored in each period-14-8 in the first, 13-8 in the second, and 12-3 in the third. They have lost 2 games in overtime-5-4 to UMass on 12/6 and 3-2 to Providence on 1/9…In special teams' play, the Terriers have converted on 5-of-49 (.102) power play chances, while opponents are 16-of-59 (.271)…Mark Mullen (2-3-5) and Freddy Meyer (2-3-5) are tied for the team lead in scoring, while John Sabo leads the team in goals (3) in the 10 losses…Sean Fields has been charged with 9 of the 10 losses and has a 4.06 GAA and an .858 save percentage in those 9 games. ABOUT PENALTIES: Much has been said this year about the Terriers and the penalty box. An interesting note is comparing per-game penalty totals in the wins/ties and losses. In the wins and ties, the Terriers have averaged 8.1 penalties for 18.2 minutes a game, while they have averaged 9.6 penalties for 22.4 minutes a game in their losses. In the wins and ties, opponents have been called for an average of 7.5 penalties for 17.6 minutes. In the 10 losses, opponents have been whistled for 8.6 penalties and 18.8 minutes per game.

Mark Mullen is the team's leading scorer on the road.

ON THE ROAD: Seventeen of the Terriers' 30 games have been on the road, and they are 10-6-1. This includes three neutral sites-the University of Wisconsin for the Ice Breaker Tournament, Detroit's Joe Louis Arena for the Great Lakes Invitational, and the FleetCenter for the Beanpot. In those games, the Terriers are 5-0-1. Thus, they are 5-6-0 on opponents' home ice…They have outscored their 16 opponents, 56-47. They have enjoyed a scoring advantage in the first (21-15) and second (24-14) periods but have been outscored in the third period (17-11) and overtime (1-0)…Mark Mullen (4 11-15) leads the team in scoring in the road games. Justin Maiser has a team-leading 8goals and is second in total points with 14. Just behind them are John Sabo (4-9-13) and Frantisek Skladany (5-7-12)…Sean Fields is 10-5-1 on the road with a 2.67 GAA and a .909 save percentage. Stephan Siwiec is 0-1-0 with a 3.02 GAA and an .864 save percentage…In special teams' play, the Terriers are 17-of-82 (.207) on the power play, while opponents are 19-of-108 (.176).

MORE POWER ON THE ROAD: The Terriers have fared better on their power play away from home than they have at Walter Brown Arena. As noted above, they are 17-of-82 (.207) on their man-advantage situations on the road, while they are 10-of-74 (.135) on the power play in their 13 home games.

BETTER KILLERS ON THE ROAD: Similarly, the Terriers are better killing penalties on the road than they are at home. On the road, they are 89-of-108 (.824) on their penalty killing, while they are 49-of-64 (.766) in killing penalties at Brown Arena.

SCORING BY CLASS: Thus far, the sophomore class has been the most productive for the Terriers this year, as the class leads the team in both assists and points. HOW THEY ARE FARING IN FEBRUARY: The Terriers have opened the month with 3 wins-2-1 over Harvard in the Beanpot opener on 2/3, 2-0 vs. UMass last Friday night, and 3-2 over BC in the Beanpot title game last Monday night….Freddy Meyer and Mark Mullen lead the team in scoring with 1-2-3 each…Sean Fields has a 1.00 GAA and a .966 save percentage en route to earning the 3 wins…In special teams' play, the Terriers are 3-for-15 (.200) on their power play, and they have killed off 18-of-19 (.947) chances by their opponents. The only team with a power play goal was BC in the Beanpot title game, but the Eagles were just 1-for-8.

HOW THEY FARED IN JANUARY: The Terriers' win over Merrimack allowed them to finish the month with a non-losing record. The team has now finished each month this season with a .500 record or better. The Terriers opened the month by sweeping Northeastern, 4-0 and 7-2, on 1/4 and 1/5 but then lost to Providence, 3-2 in overtime on 1/9 and to BC, 3-1 (1/16) and 3-2 (1/17) in back-to-back games. The three-game losing streak came to an end with their 5-2 win over UNH on 1/23. However, two days later, they lost to the Wildcats, 3-0, as their record slipped to 3-4-0. The month ended a winning note with a 4-0 win over Merrimack last Thursday, 1/30…Brian Collins was the offensive leader with 4-4-8 in the 8 games, while Frantisek Skladany was next with 3-4-7…Bryan Miller led the team in assists with 6 and was third in scoring with 0-6-6… Sean Fields was 4-4-0 with a 2.02 GAA and a .920 save percentage. He opened and closed the month with a shutout as he blanked Northeastern, 4-0, on 1/4 and Merrimack, 5-0, on 1/30…In special teams' play, the Terriers were 9-of-42 (.214) on the power play, while Northeastern, Providence, BC, New Hampshire, and Merrimack were a combined 7-of-40 (.175) on their power play chances.

Kenny Magowan had a team-leading 6 assists in 6 games in December.

HOW THEY FARED IN DECEMBER: The Terriers were 4-2-0 in December. After opening the month with back-to-back losses to Cornell and UMass, B.U. bounced back to win four straight to close out the month. The highlight came in the Great Lakes Invitational in which the Terriers defeated Michigan State, 6-1, in the first game and Michigan, 5-4, in the title game …In the six games, B.U. outscored its opponents, 23-17. The Terriers' best periods were the first and third during which they enjoyed a three-goal advantage-9-6 in the first and 8-5 in the third. In the second period, they had a 6-5 lead…In special teams' play, the Terriers were 4-of-29 (.138) on their power play, while they have killed off 28-of-33 (.849) chances by their opponents…Individually, Mark Mullen led the team in points (8), while he tied Frantisek Skladany in goals (4). Kenny Magowan had a team-leading 6 assists in the 6 games. Magowan was second in scoring (7 points), while Skladany was third (6)…Sean Fields was the only goalie of record during the month, as he has a 2.80 GAA and a .902 save percentage to go along with his 4-2-0 record.

HOW THEY FARED IN NOVEMBER: The Terriers were 5-3-0 in November. They opened the month with three straight wins, including a 3-2 victory at then number one-ranked New Hampshire. Then, after back-to-back losses to Boston College, which had taken over the top spot in the polls from UNH and Maine, the Terriers bounced back with wins over UMass/Lowell and Harvard. They closed out the month last Saturday with a 4-1 loss at Cornell…During the month, they were outscored by their opponents, 25-24 B.U. was outscored, 13-6, in the first period in the 8 games, but came back to enjoy a 10-4 margin in the second period, while they tied their opponents in the third period, 8-8…In special teams' play, the Terriers converted on 8-of-40 (.200) power play chances and killed off 38-of-50 (.760) opportunities by their opponents. Individually, Justin Maiser was the team's top offensive threat with 3-5-8 in the 8 games. John Sabo had a team-leading 5 goals in the 8 games, while he also chipped in with 2 assists. Brian McConnell (2-4-6) and Freddy Meyer (1-4-5) were just behind Sabo…Sean Fields was 5-2-0 during the month with a 2.89 GAA and a .911 save percentage. Stephan Siwiec was 0-1-0 with a 3.57 GAA and an .861 save percentage.

HOW THEY FARED IN OCTOBER: The Terriers were 2-1-2 during October. Certainly one of the highlights was winning the season-opening Ice Breaker Tournament hosted by the University of Wisconsin. In the 5 games during the month, the Terriers outscored their opponents, 19-14. They were most successful during the first period, outscoring their opponents, 8-3. They trailed in the second period, 8-7, and they tied their opponents in the third period, 4-4…In special teams' play, the Terriers were 3-for-30 (.100) on the power play and 21-of-30 (.700) killing penalties…David Klema (2-3-5) and Frantisek Skladany (1-4-5) tied for the team lead in scoring…Brian McConnell was the team's top goal scorer with 3 in the 5 games…Sean Fields was 1-1-2 with a 2.65 GAA and an.888 save percentage, while Stephan Siwiec was 1-0-0 with a 4.00 GAA and an .800 save percentage.
