BOSTON - Sophomore forward Scott Brittain and Canada's U19 National Team edged the Koreans, 99-83, in a Group F match in the Eighth Finals at the World Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia Tuesday morning. Canada broke up a close game with 29 points in the fourth quarter. Neither team was able to open up a significant advantage, as the lead bounced back and forth between the two squads. Canada took an early 23-18 lead in the first quarter, but Korea responded to tie the game at 23 in the second quarter. The two sides traded buckets, and neither was able to build a lead larger than three points. Korea came out of the break leading, 48-45, and found its touch, stretching to a nine-point advantage in the third quarter. However, Canada's Kai Williams scored 11 points in the last 10 minutes, and the Canadians out-scored the Koreans 29-16 in the final frame to break open what had been a tight contest. Brittain and the Canadian Junior National team return to action tomorrow, July 18, at 8:30 p.m. (2:30 p.m. EST) when they face Argentina in their last game in the Eighth Finals.
