Brittain, Team Canada Make Eighth Finals At World Championships

BOSTON - Despite an 81-70 loss to Australia on Saturday, July 14, sophomore forward Scott Brittain and the Canadian U19 men's basketball team advanced to the Eighth Finals and will face Spain, Korea and Argentina on July 16, 17 and 18.

Australia jumped out to a 28-22 lead in the first quarter and held command from there. Canada did try to climb back into it, at 75-68, in the fourth quarter but couldn't muster a sustained attack. Brittain finished the game with two points, three rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot in 20 minutes.

Turkey defeated Nigeria in the final contest in Group C to send the Nigerians to classification and help the Canadians get into the Eighth Finals. Brittain and Canada will face Spain on Monday morning at 9:45 a.m.
