BOSTON - Fresh off a come-from-behind win at Stony Brook, the Boston University men's basketball team (5-12, 2-3 America East) welcomes America East-leading UMBC (12-7, 4-2 AE) into Case Gymnasium on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.

Boston U holds a 9-3 all-time lead in the series. The Terriers won seven of the first eight games, but the teams have been even over the last four contests, 2-2. BU and UMBC split last season, with each team defending its home court. The Terriers will look to defend a perfect 6-0 record at home against the Retrievers.

UMBC raced out to a 6-1 start in 2007-08 - its only loss coming in overtime at Lafayette. The Retrievers closed out the non-conference portion of their season with a 92-83 loss at Ohio State. They had a good start to the America East slate, earning comfortable wins over Stony Brook, UNH and Vermont. UMBC's two conference losses have been by a combined six points - 77-74 to Maine and 62-59 to Binghamton. Brian Hodges is the Retrievers' leading scorer with 17.4 ppg (18.8 ppg in AE match-ups). Darryl Proctor's 8.7 boards per game are a team best.

Sophomore guard Corey Lowe (Newton, Mass.) is BU's leading scorer with 18.6 points per game. He is ranked 12th in the nation in made 3-pointers per game (3.7). Classmates Carlos Strong (Portland, Maine) and Scott Brittain are the other two Terriers in double figures, with 11.9 ppg and 10.1 ppg, respectively. Lowe sat out the Stony Brook win with a swollen knee, while Brittain posted a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.

BU defeated Stony Brook 59-52 on Saturday, Jan. 19 in the Terriers' last outing. Red-shirt sophomore Tyler Morris (Indianapolis, Ind.) scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed a career-high-tying six rebounds. Red-shirt junior Matt Wolff (Walpole, Mass.) was the third Terrier in double figures, tallying 13 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting from deep. BU fell behind late in the first half when the Terriers went scoreless over the final seven minutes of the period. But Boston University fought back over the course of the second frame, spurred by timely threes from Wolff, to move back in front for good with 6:45 remaining in the game.

Next up for the Terriers is Vermont on Friday, Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. in Agganis Arena. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
