Women's Soccer Co-Players of the Week

Lindsay McCarthy, Indiana

Sr., F, Galloway, N.J./Absegami

Indiana's Lindsay McCarthy was the offensive spark for the Hoosiers this past week. She scored the only two goals for IU which resulted in a 1-1 tie against Michigan and a 1-0 victory over Michigan State. These two scores bring her season total up to three goals. This honor is McCarthy's first of her career.

Katie Schoepfer, Penn State

Penn State's Katie Schoepfer led the offensive charge for the Nittany Lions this past weekend with wins over Wisconsin and Northwestern. Against the Badgers, Schoepfer chalked up an assist on the second goal of the game. In the Wildcats match-up, the sophomore forward netted a goal of her own while producing the game-tying assist. The Waterford graduate has stretched her scoring steak to eight straight games. This is Schoepfer's second Big Ten Player of the Week award this season.

Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Lindsey Carstens, Illinois

Sr., GK, West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East

Illinois's Lindsey Carstens silenced her opponents this weekend with two shutouts over Minnesota and Iowa. In each game, she played all 90 minutes and tallied two saves. The senior goal keeper now has five total shutouts on the season and 22 for her career. Carstens is currently ranked second for the most career shutouts in Illinois history, just two shy of the record.
