Falcons Place Second At WMU Invitational

March 27, 2005

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University track and field continued their promising start to the outdoor season, placing second at the WMU Invitational on Saturday. The host Broncos won the meet, with Toledo finishing third.

BGSU had impressive finishes in the middle distance with senior Melissa Krueger placing second in the 800-meters with a time of 2:19.33 and freshman Jamie Roflow capturing the 1500-meter crown with a time of 4:43.82.

Erica Wilson led the Falcons in the jumps, placing second in both the high jump (1.60 meters) and long jump (5.48 meters). Fellow sophomore Veronica Vance also had a second-place finish in the triple jump (10.93 meters).

BGSU took home three of the top four spots in the shot put with Kerri McClung (14.02 meters) placing at the top, with freshman Whitney Hartman (12.57 meters) third and sophomore Paris Bussey (12.46 meters) fourth.

Bussey also placed first in the discus throw with a mark of 42.80 meters, while McClung finished second in the hammer throw.

Sophomore Andi Bunko won the javelin throw for the second week in a row with a toss of 37.00 meters.

Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Cincinnati, Ohio for the Cincinnati Five-way.
