Romer Named MAC Tennis Player of the Week

April 26, 2006

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Just days after tying a BGSU career singles win record, senior co-captain Heidi Romer was honored as the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week. Romer shares the honors with Buffalo's Kristen Ortman.

The senior co-captain combined with sophomore Jenna Nussbaum to win the No. 1 doubles set against NIU Friday. The duo is 5-7 on the season and 3-5 in conference play.

Romer remained undefeated on the day with her 79th win in a triumph over NIU's Megan Brooks at the No. 3 singles flight. She has recorded 17 wins this season and is 6-2 in conference play.

This is the third POW honor to be bestowed upon a Falcon. Freshman Kelsey Jakupcin and sophomore Jenna Nussbaum have also been recognized for their effort on the court.

The Falcons will face Buffalo in the first round of the MAC Championships on Friday. First serve will be tossed at 2:00 p.m. in Oxford on the campus of Miami University.
