Falcons Conclude Non-Conference Schedule, Host Ferris State

March 15, 2006

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - In their last match before the Mid-American Conference season begins, the Falcons will host the Ferris State Bulldogs. Bowling Green will enter the contest on an eight match win streak and are 10-4 on the season.

The match will be the first on the spring schedule for the Bulldogs. FSU finished the Fall season at 10-2 overall and 8-1 in the GLIAC conference under first year head coach Jing "Amy" Sun.

"Although they are battling injuries, we still respect them because they are a dangerous team," said coach Penny Dean

The squads are familiar with each other not only due to their mutual participation in the BGSU Invitational in the spring, but many of the players are familiar with each other through junior tennis action.

"Looking at their line-up, they match-up evenly with us," said Dean. "They are very comparable to our squad and are solid all throughout their line-up."

The Falcons were a perfect 3-0 during their spring break trip in Orlando. In the three matches BGSU conceded just two team points.

The Keefe Court opener is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m on Saturday.

Falcon Tennis Notables

Senior Heidi Romer and freshman Kelsey Jakupcin each have ten singles wins to date. Romer is 10-5 at the No. 3 flight while Jakupcin is 11-2 at the No. 5.

The Falcons will be well prepared for the MAC play as six Falcons have less than five losses under their belts this season. Romer (10-5), Jakupcin (11-2), Erica Wolfe (2-0), Andrea Volle (1-3), Stefanie Menoff (9-2), Libby Harrison (1-0).

The Falcons have not surrendered a doubles point since Feb 19. They have taken the point in their past four matches.

The Orange and Brown had a perfect season at Shadow Valley Tennis and Fitness Center.
