Jen Jarjosa Earns Academic All-District Honors

March 22, 2001

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's swimmer Jen Jarjosa has been named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District IV University Division Fall/Winter At-Large Team, it was announced Thursday morning (March 22). Jarjosa, a senior at BGSU, was one of 10 women named to the first team.

The district team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve, and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are chosen by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.

Jarjosa, a native of West Chester, Ohio, carries a perfect 4.00 GPA as a biology major. She has been named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll in each of the last two years, the first two years the award has been presented. As a sophomore, she earned Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention. She is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honor society.

A team tri-captain, Jarjosa competed in a myriad of events for the Falcons this year, including the 200 IM, 100 and 200 Back, 50, 100 and 200 Free, and several relays. She had the team's top time in the 200 Back this year.

As a member of the all-district first team, Jarjosa's name will appear on the national ballot for the Verizon Academic All-America Fall/Winter Women's At-Large Team.
