Keating and Yee Help Falcons Tame Bulls

Jan. 28, 2006

Final Stats

BUFFALO, N.Y. - In their 181-119 win over the University at Buffalo, the swimming and diving program saw a preview of what might come at the MAC Championships. Freshman Alisha Yee and junior Caroline Keating each nabbed top honors in their three individual races and each helped the Orange and Brown to a relay victory.

Yee won the 100 and 200 Backstroke events and the 200 IM. She also anchored the 400 Medley Relay giving BGSU the opening win in the first event.

Keating stole the meet with her first place finishes in the 100 and 200 Freestyle events. In her third solo win, Keating won the 500 Free by more than 11 seconds marking the second time in two meets where she won a race by more than double-digit seconds. She then went on to deliver the final sinking blow to the Bulls anchoring the 200 Free Relay.

Freshman Ashley Belrose captured two first place victories on the 1- and 3-meter diving events. BGSU controlled the springboards by sweeping both events.

Seniors Kara Ohngren and Stephanie Buckner edged their competition with victories in the 1000 and 50 Free events, respectively.

In total, the Falcons earned 28 Top Three finishes against the Bulls.

The squad will return to Cooper Pool for their final dual meet before the conference championship. On February 4 they will host the RedHawks of Miami (Oh). The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a ceremony recognizing the Falcon seniors prior to the first event.
