Carriaga and Yee Pace Falcons in Loss at Miami

Jan. 26, 2007

Final Stats

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Michael Carriaga and Alisha Yee each swam to a first place finish as the Miami RedHawks took the MAC dual meet win at home in Oxford, 192-98. The squads split the relay wins as the 200 free relay team brought home the third and final victory for the Falcons. Frankie Houck, Jennifer Wright, Meg Richardson and Sami Jordan finished the race in 1:40.23.

Carriaga picked up her second win of the season after finishing the 200 fly in 2:10.52. She also won the 100 fly last weekend against Buffalo. Tonight, the junior took third in the 100 fly (59.19).

Yee picked up her twelfth win of the season after taking the 200 back event. Her 2:05.79 finish just missed matching her season best mark of 2:05.74 which she set against Akron on January 13. Yee leads the Falcons with 12 solo wins and is the only Falcon to post double-digit individual event wins.

Houck took third in the closest race of the night with her time of 24.65 in the 50 free. MU's Allison Stevens won the race in 24.45 followed by RedHawk teammate, Diana Zeleznikar who finished just ahead of Houck in 24.65. Houck beat MU's Kristen Bezier by two-hundredths of a second.

In yet another close call, Ashley Belrose finished in second on the 1-meter board after diving to a score of 162.25, just 4.6 points behind MU's Melissa Roemmele who led the event with 166.85 points.

The win was the 46th-straight MAC win for the RedHawks.

Bowling Green will have 19 days to prepare for the opening day of the MAC Championships which will be held on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. The three-day tournament will begin on February 14 and will conclude on February 17.
