2002 Women's Soccer Schedule Released

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's soccer head coach Andy Richards and his assistant, Ashlee Orr, have announced the team's schedule for the 2002 season. The Falcons are slated to play a total of 20 regular-season matches, including nine at Cochrane Field. BGSU's first two matches of the year will be at home, beginning with a contest vs. Michigan State on Sunday, Sept. 1.

The Falcons' non-league slate also includes home games against Detroit (Sept. 4) and Valparaiso (Oct. 18), as well as road tilts against Eastern Illinois (Sept. 8), Cincinnati (Oct. 8) and Wright State (Nov. 1). BGSU will also play a pair of matches in the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, taking on Pittsburgh (Sept. 13) and Missouri (Sept. 15).

The 12-match Mid-American Conference slate begins early, with a Sept. 6 contest at arch-rival Toledo. BGSU will host Miami (Sept. 20), Ball State (Sept. 22), Marshall (Oct. 4), Ohio (Oct. 6), Western Michigan (Oct. 25) and Northern Illinois (Oct. 27) in league play, and the Falcons will take to the road to face UT, Akron (Sept. 27), Kent State (Sept. 29), Central Michigan (Oct. 11), Eastern Michigan (Oct. 13) and Buffalo (Oct. 20).

The 2002 MAC Tournament begins Tuesday, Nov. 5, with quarterfinal-round action at the sites of the four higher-seeded teams. The four survivors from that round will head to the site of the highest remaining seed for the semifinals (Nov. 8) and championship (Nov. 10).

The schedule includes three opponents that participated in the 2001 NCAA Championships.
