Jessica Guyer Named To ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Team

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The 2005 ESPN The Magazine University Division Women's At-Large Academic All-District IV teams have been announced, with BGSU gymnast Jessica Guyer being named to the first-team. The district team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.

This season Guyer was also named to the All-MAC Academic squad. Also this year she posted 11 first-place finishes. She finished first on the floor exercise five times throughout the year including a 9.950 versus Southeast Missouri State and a 9.900 against Western Michigan. She also recorded two first-place finishes on the beam with a 9.850 versus SEMO and a 9.825 vs. Western Michigan, as well as four first-place finishes on the vault, including a 9.825 vs. SEMO and 9.775's versus Eastern Michigan and Ball States. Lastly, she was honored by the MAC, earning Specialist of the Week once, where she finished first on the floor and beam against Western Michigan.

To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.

The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team is a part of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program. First team selections will appear on the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Women's At-Large team to be announced June 16.
