Schnipke Has Best Falcon Finish Ever at MAC Championships

Senior Jenny Schnipke shot a third-round score of 78 and finished third overall at the 2004 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships on Sunday. Schnipke ends her BGSU career with the best finish ever by a Falcon at the MAC Tournament with her third-place showing.

Schnipke finished with a three-round score of 226 (74-74-78), two shots back of second-place finisher Becky Wood of Kent State (224) and 11shots back of the individual medalist Gabby Wedding (215) also of Kent State. For her efforts, Schnipke was named second-team All-MAC for the third time in her career.

The Kalida native's best previous finish at the MAC Tournament was sixth in 2001 (229) and tied for sixth in 2002 (236). Last season she ended tied for 26th. Her 54-hole score of 226 was just five shots off her school-record 221 she registered in the fall at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

As a team, the Falcons finished in eighth place with a three-round score of 992 (321-338-333). Kent State won the tournament with a team score of 902.

Freshman Kari Liggett finished tied for 27th overall with a three-round score of 251 (81-81-89) while senior Julie Wise was tied for 36th with a score of 257 (85-89-83). Fellow senior Kari Evans as tied for 38th with a score of 258 (81-94-83) and sophomore Amanda Schroeder finished 43rd with a score of 276 (88-94-94).
