Women's Basketball Near An NCAA-Record Pace

Falcons continue to lead nation in three-point field goals per game

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The NCAA has released the latest Division I women's basketball statistics, and Bowling Green State University is listed in a number of categories. As a team, the Falcons continue to lead the nation in three-point field goals made per game, with an average of 9.1 (NCAA stats through games of Monday, Feb. 7). Through 21 contests this season (as of Monday), BGSU has already set a school record by making a total of 192 three-pointers. The "old" school record of 135 successful three-pointers in a season was set just last winter.

The Falcons' average of 9.14 three-pointers per game, if BG can maintain it, would be the second-highest seasonal average in NCAA Division I history. The 1993-94 South Carolina team is the only team to date to average more than nine successful treys per game, with 9.19 (top-five list below).

Additionally, BGSU is currently tied for eighth in the nation in free-throw percentage, with a success rate of .754.

Individually, junior Angie Farmer ranks among the national leaders in three-point field goals made per game. Farmer has made a school-record 60 in 21 contests, an average of 2.9 successful treys per outing. That average ties her for 13th in the country.

The NCAA Division I statistics are released each week (generally late Tuesday or early Wednesday) during the season. National stats will be released each week through March 4.

BGSU is 6-15 overall, and 4-7 in Mid-American Conference play after Monday's (Feb. 7) 86-50 win over Northern Illinois. The Falcons will continue a four-game homestand with a Saturday (Feb. 12) contest vs. Eastern Michigan. That game will begin at 2:00 p.m. at BG's venerable Anderson Arena.
