BGSU Ends in 2-2 Tie at Cleveland State

Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green had a 2-0 lead heading into halftime, but Cleveland State scored two goals late in the game for a 2-2 tie in non-conference action. The Falcons are now 5-5-3 overall.

BGSU's P.J. Behan gave the visitors an early lead with his second goal of the season at 9:47. The redshirt-junior gained control of a loose ball in the box and capitalized for a 1-0 Falcon lead, unassisted.

Senior Matt Martinka then connected on his second penalty kick in as many games at 38:54 for a 2-0 BGSU lead. It's his second goal of the season, both coming via a penalty kick. Both teams were even at five shot attempts apiece in the first half.

CSU's David Prentice scored at 70:45 to cut the Falcon lead to one, 2-1, and Stephen Ademolu netted the game-tying goal at 75:53. CSU held a 9-8 shot advantage in the second half.

The only shot attempts in the overtime sessions came from BGSU which had three in the first overtime period, but the scored remained 2-2.

There were a combined 53 fouls called in the game, including 26 in the first half alone. BGSU held a 16-14 advantage in total shots and a 11-6 edge in corner kicks.

BGSU continues its non-conference slate when it hosts Birmingham Southern on Sunday, Oct. 19, at Mickey Cochrane Field. Kickoff is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. and is part of a mens'/women's soccer doubleheader.
