Kentucky Defeats BGSU, 3-0

Bowling Green, Ohio - Kentucky defeated Bowling Green at Mickey Cochrane Field on Sunday afternoon in a Mid-American Conference men's soccer game, 3-0. UK outshot Bowling Green 20-8 in the game, including 10-4 in shots on goal.

The Wildcats (6-3-1, 1-0-0 MAC) got on the board early when Nathan Li scored at 3:56 for a 1-0 lead. Jamal Shteiwi and Joey Gaworecki assisted. BGSU's defense settled until UK put another goal on the board at 40:43 by Riley O'Neill for a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

At the half, UK held a 9-3 shot advantage with two of BGSU's shots on goal.

The visitors put their third and final goal on the board at 72:01 thanks to Shteiwi with an assist from O'Neill.

BGSU goalkeeper David DeGraff finished with seven saves and three goals allowed in the game while UK's Andy Gruenebaum had four saves. The Falcons held a 6-4 advantage on corner kicks.

BGSU falls to 3-5-2 overall and 1-2-0 in the MAC with three league games to play. The Falcons travel to IPFW for a non-conference game on Friday, Oct. 10 (7 p.m.) and then return home next Sunday for a league game against visiting Northern Illinois (2 p.m.).
