Bowling Green Falls to Akron, 4-0

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green hosted their second Mid-American Conference match today against Akron. The Falcons held the Zips of Akron through a scoreless first half. The second half gave Akron two goals within 29 seconds of each other. This was enough to get their momentum going and keep it throughout the match. Akron finished off with the 4-0 victory. After a scoreless first half, Akron opened up with a pair of goals to begin the second half of play. Ross McKenzie assisted teammate Corey Sipos with a cross that Sipos was able to head into the right side of the net at the 48:05 mark. Akron came right back with an unassisted goal at the 48:34 mark by Brendan Murphy. Bowling Green kept the pressure with a total of 10 shots. Leading for the Falcon's was Matt Yanick with 4 shots. At the 63:12 mark, Akron increased their lead with an unassisted goal by Steve Kalan. Finishing off for the Zips was Pablo Moreira scoring at the 72:24 mark off an assist by Ross McKenzie. In goal for the Falcons was Tyler Dollins who recorded three saves. The next match for the Falcons will be on Friday Oct. 8 when they travel to DeKalb, Illinois to take on the Huskies of Northern Illinois at 12 p.m.
