Men's Soccer Falls In Overtime

Milwaukee, Wis. -

The Bowling Green State University men's soccer suffered its third consecutive 2-1 setback falling in overtime to Wisconsin-Green Bay in the first game of the 2000 Panther Coca-Cola Classic hosted by Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The Falcons took a 1-0 at the 22:11 mark when redshirt senior Tommy Thomas (Elida, Ohio) scored his second career goal off an assist from Chris Kraft (North Olmsted, Ohio). Thomas' shot from 18 yards when in off the crossbar.

The Phoenix tied the contest with a goal by Sean O'Brien at the 37:24 mark when his header beat Falcon goalkeeper David DeGraff (Naperville, Ill./Central).

UWGB's Brian Giovinazzi scored the match-winning goal just 24 seconds into sudden-death overtime.

DeGraff was credited with seven saves, while Phoenix goalkeeper Josh Lynk made five saves.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee lost to Hartford, 3-1, in Saturday's nightcap. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with Hartford facing Wisconsin-Green Bay at noon (central), while the Falcons and Panthers square-off at 2 p.m. (central).
