Recap |  Final Stats

Paluch's Opening Statement
"I feel good in the fact that we, in a tight hockey game, were able to make the plays we needed to to win the game. We had a great save with a minute and a half left and then we make a play to capitalize on that. RIT played extremely well. We knew they were going to compete hard, but they did a great job of taking away our cycle. It turned into a game that it was going to take a big play to win and I feel real good we were able to make that play."

Commenting on the opening goal just 28 seconds into the game
"Sometimes when they go in that early in the game, there's a tendency to think they're all going to go in. We see a lot of good goalies and he's right there with all of them. There weren't a lot of holes in him. Their team responded extremely well to him."

Commenting on the save by Jon Horrell with just over a minute to go in the game
"That was a terrific save. We've talked about the ability to learn to win close games. A goalie making a save in that situation is a big part of it ... their best player with a clean breakaway ... their leading scorer ... he saves and then our leading scorers make a terrific play at the other end to score. That's the difference in the game. It was an even game all the way through. They were playing well and we make the play to win it."

On the Brandon Svendsen goal and the penalty kill...
"We got a terriffic individual play from Svendsen for the short-handed goal. The entire penalty-kill was good because we got more pressure. He played well (talking about Horrell). What's even more disappointing is we gave up a short-handed goal but we almost gave up a hockey game on the power play. That,s extremely disappointing."

"On the flip side, we made a terrific play to win it on the power play. I've always talked about having the ability, when your power play hasn't ben successful, to score a power play goal at a key game. We're looking at a power play situation with just over two minutes to go. Unfortunate, we give up a great scoring chance, and that's something we're going to work on a lot next week, and then we make a great play to win it."
