BGSU Tight End Recovering From Stroke

June 11, 2004

Bowling Green, Ohio - Junior tight end Steve Navarro, who suffered a stroke in his off-campus apartment on Monday, is expected to return to his Chicago area home this weekend and begin rehabilitation.

Navarro, a native of Orland Park, Illinois and a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School, concluded spring drills as the Falcons' starting tight end. He played in 14 games last year in a reserve role and caught a touchdown pass against Kent State.

"We are very grateful that Steve's condition has stabilized and improved," said BGSU coach Gregg Brandon. "All of our thoughts and prayers have been with Steve and the Navarro's. He has a great support system at home and everyone in the BGSU family will be there for them as he begins his recovery."

Get well wishes are encouraged and may by sent to the BGSU Football Office, Perry Stadium, Bowling Green, Ohio, 43403-0030 or via e-mail to football@bgnet.bgsu.edu.
