Football Announces 2007 Schedule

March 14, 2007

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University football team will play five home games at Doyt Perry Stadium during the 2007 season including contests with MAC East Champion Ohio (October 27) on Family Weekend and the traditional Thanksgiving Week matchup with arch-rival Toledo (November 23/ESPNU). In addition, BGSU will play two Big Ten programs for the second straight year when it travels to Minnesota (September 1) and Michigan State (September 8) and will also visit Boston College (October 6).

"Finalizing the entire MAC schedule took longer than expected for several reasons," said BGSU Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Greg Christopher. "On the MAC front, adding Temple and going unbalanced presented a challenge to the scheduling. Specifically at BGSU, our schedule was set last fall with Minnesota, Boston College, Boise State and Florida International. When FIU cancelled its contract with us in late December, we were forced to change plans and the timing worked against us. After conversations with Coach Brandon, the conference and a number of other institutions, we essentially traded a few games to end up with our current non-conference slate. While our goal is to have six home games, the five we have in the Doyt this fall is an improvement and we have positioned ourselves well for the future."

BGSU will open its home campaign and MAC schedule when it hosts Temple on Hall of Fame Weekend (September 22). The brand new Sebo Athletic Center also will be dedicated at that time. New Division IA member Western Kentucky (September 29) will serve as the Falcons' Homecoming opponent. The Falcons also will host Akron (November 2).

"Our goal is always to compete for a MAC Championship and secure one of the three bowls bids the conference offers," said BGSU football coach Gregg Brandon. "Our non-conference games once again will provide us with a unique and difficult challenge that will help us be at our best during the league season."

BGSU also will travel to Miami (October 13), Kent State (October 20), Eastern Michigan (November 9/ESPNU) and Buffalo (November 17).

Schedule Notes: BGSU will host Minnesota in 2008... Boise State will now play at BGSU in 2011... the Falcons will visit Boise in 2008.
