Falcons Edge E. Michigan in Final Seconds, 73-72

March 6, 2003

Box Score |  Notes

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Cory Ryan scored 17 points and hit a 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining Wednesday night, lifting Bowling Green to a 73-72 victory over Eastern Michigan.

Ron Lewis led the Falcons (12-14, 8-9 Mid-American Conference) with 18 points, John Reimold added 14 and Kevin Netter scored 10.

Michael Ross scored 18 points to lead the Eagles (14-13, 8-10). Markus Austin and John Bowler scored 11 points apiece and Steve Pettyjohn added 10 for Eastern Michigan.

Trailing 72-70, the Falcons nearly turned the ball over in the closing seconds when Cory Eyink's lob pass for Netter hit the rim. But Netter was able to beat three Eagles to the loose ball in the lane and pass out to Ryan, who hit a 3-pointer from the left wing to make it 73-72.

Eyink stole the ball from Ross on the Eagles' ensuing possession and was fouled with three seconds remaining, but missed two free throws that would have given Bowling Green a three-point lead.

Eastern Michigan's JaQuan Hart hit the rim on a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
