Kent State Defeats BGSU, 77-64

Bowling Green, Ohio - Kent State got 35 points in the paint from Julian Sullinger and Haminn Quantance and held off BGSU as the Golden Flashes posted a 77-64 victory in Anderson Arena, Thursday night.

Junior Ryne Hamblet had 21 points, his second straight game in which he has scored 20 or more, as the Falcons were able to stay in the game with a nine for 19 effort from three point range.

Freshman Ryan Sims, who nailed all three of his long distance shots, cut the KSU lead to 27-23 with 7:06 to go in the first half.

The Golden Flashes kept finding the open man inside and used a 9-0 run over a three-minute stretch to pull away and go into the locker room with a 41-29 lead.

KSU had its biggest lead at 54-36 with 13:28 to go but cut the lead to 61-51 with 8:28 left on a layup by senior Matt Lefeld. BGSU continued to fight and a three-pointer by Hamblet with 2:20 left got the Falcons to within 67-60 with 2:20 to go.

Senior Martin Samarco had 14 points and sophomore Nate Miller added eight points and 10 rebounds.

The Falcons will play their final home game of the season on Sunday at noon against Miami.
