Final Stats

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green bettered its season-high 16 runs from Friday with 18 runs on Saturday, downing Toledo 18-7 at Warren Steller Field. Eleven different Falcons drove in runs, including four with multiple RBIs.

After a four-hour rain delay, Toledo's Drew Hoisington took the first offering of the game from Keith Laughlin and drilled it to left field for a leadoff double. After a sacrifice bunt by Jake Swint, Joel Visser grounded out, allowing Hoisington to score for a 1-0 UT lead.

The Rocket lead didn't last long, however, BGSU's Andy Hudak knocked a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning followed by a solo home run from Nolan Reimold for a quick 3-1 Falcon lead. Hudak's home run was his ninth of the season while Reimold's blast was his 17th round-tripper of the year.

Both teams went scoreless in the second inning. BGSU pushed across another run in the third inning via a UT error to make it 4-1. The Rockets came back with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth frame thanks to a two-run home run by Jason Watson, his team-leading sixth of the season, cutting the BGSU lead to 4-3.

The Falcons broke the game wide open in the bottom of the fourth inning with seven runs, all coming with two outs. Two runs came on bases-loaded walks while Eric Lawson, Josh Stewart, Steve Raszka, and Kevin Longstreth all had RBI hits for an 11-3 lead.

BGSU pushed the lead to 17-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning with five more runs. Two came off a single down the left-field line by Jeff Warnock while two more came from a single by Jimmy Lipari.

UT scored four runs in the eighth off reliever Kyle Knoblauch, two coming off a home run by Dan Ruth and another two runs coming via a single by Matt Ruth. The Falcons added a final run in the eight via an RBI fielder's choice by Mike Barnard.

BGSU held a 19-12 advantage in hits, tying the season-high set on March 7 vs. Valparaiso. Eleven different Falcons drove in runs, including three each from Hudak and Lipari. There were also 11 Falcons who recorded hits, including three by Raszka.

Laughlin (3-4) earned the win, lasting seven innings. He surrendered just seven hits and three runs with four strikeouts and one walk. J.R. Duffey (5-5) suffered the loss, giving up 10 runs (nine earned) in 3.2 innings.

With the win, BGSU improves to 30-14 overall and 10-7 in the MAC West Division.

The two teams conclude their series at Warren Steller Field on Sunday, May 15, at 1 p.m. It is the home finale for the Falcons and the 10 BGSU seniors will be recognized prior to the first pitch.
