YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team posted the school's highest finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in four years, finishing 14th at that meet Saturday (Nov. 13). The 2004 meet, hosted by Eastern Michigan University, was held at Eagle Crest Golf Course.

The Falcons of head coach Cami Wells recorded a total of 381 points, ranking the Brown and Orange 14th among 30 teams. BG, seventh among 10 MAC squads Saturday, had four runners post times that rank among the top six in school history.

Senior Niki Suitor was the first Falcon to finish, placing 51st in the 209-woman, 6K race. Suitor finished the race in a time of 21:26.5. Classmate Melissa Krueger was 66th, in a time of 21:40.6.

Suitor set a new school record for a 6K race, breaking Amber Culp's mark of 21:50 (set last year). Krueger's time also was faster than Culp's former school-record 6K result.

Jamie Roflow finished 77th in a time of 21:52.3, while Elise Gould was 89th in 22:09.8. Roflow's result ranks her fourth on the BGSU 6K list, while Gould's time is the sixth-fastest by a Falcon on a 6K course.

Andrea Pollack (113th, 22:40.5), Kim Settle (131st; 22:53.0) and Stephanie Hillman (132nd; 22:57.3) also competed for the Falcons. BGSU's 14th-place finish as a team is the best since the 2000 squad placed 13th at the regional race.

Michigan won the team title with 40 points, followed by Notre Dame (79) and Michigan State (85).

In the men's race, BGSU had only three individual competitors. Rogers Kipchumba was 64th among 197 finishers, with a time of 31:56.4 in the 10K race. Bryan Jackson finished 157th in a time of 34:21.2, while Steve Vairetta (35:21.3) was 187th overall.
