Falcons Sweep Men's and Women's Dual vs. Toledo

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Junior Rogers Kipchumba and sophomore Jamie Roflow led the Falcons to a dual meet victory over arch-rival Toledo Friday afternoon (Sept. 2). Kipchumba led all runners in the men's division with a time of 15:55, while Roflow led the women with a personal-best time of 17:56.

"I was very pleased with both the men and the women for their first race," said head coach Cami Wells. " I was very happy with Jamie and Rogers finish, repeating as champions."

The Falcon men defeated Toledo with a team score of 24-33.

Other finishers for the Falcons on the men's side include Edgar Ramirez (3rd, 16:24), Kevin Kaighin (5th, 16:32), Bryan Jackson, (7th, 16:41), Brett Finn, (8th, 16:46), Aaron Smuda (10th, 17:12), Curtis Farnsel (11, 17:14), Will Elmore (13, 17:20) and Steve Vairetta, (15, 17:29).

"I was pleased with Edgar's first race back here at BGSU," said Wells. "He showed a lot of heart staying up there with Rodgers. Kevin impressed me a lot too. He worked hard this summer and it is starting to pay off for him. I was also pleased with Brett's race as a freshman being our number five runner."
 

 

The Falcon women defeated Toledo with a team score of 25-30.

On the women's side, Roflow was followed by Andrea Pollack (3rd, 18:32), Stephanie Hillman (4th, 18:33 PR), Kim Settle (7th, 18:50 PR), Kara Butler (10th, 19:22), Colleen Moran (11th, 19:28), Bridget Dalic (16th, 20:15), Kylie Korsnack (17th, 20:44), Katy Senn (18th, 20:59), Caroline Kipchaba (19th, 21:20), Emily Jackson (20th, 21:27), Leslie Carden (21st, 22:01) and Angie Raizis (22nd, 22:20).

"The top four ladies ran very well," said Wells. "I was especially pleased with Kara and Colleen rounding up the fifth and sixth spots as freshman. Kara was not far off her personal best."

Up next for the Falcons will host the 19th Annual Mel Brodt Cross Country Invitational next Saturday September 10th, here at BGSU. The women's race begins at 11:00 a.m., with the men running at 11:45 a.m.
