Final Stats

Daytona Beach, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman had four Wildcats collect double-digit kills on Friday night to collect a big MEAC victory over North Carolina A&T, 3-1 at Moore Gymnasium in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Wildcats won the match on scores of 31-29, 28-30, 31-29 and 30-22.

B-CU (5-9, 2-2) evened its record in league play with the performance of a TEAM factor on Friday night. The Vanessa Cogswell coached Wildcats played all over the court together, and registered a season-high 15 team blocks.

Sophomore Chelle Ticeson picked up a team-high 11 kills and eight blocks (four solo) to lead the `Cats. In the first game, the Wildcats committed five attack errors, while their counterparts from Greensboro, N.C. had just two.

B-CU used strong play down the stretch from Keisha Vicks and Danielle Goodrum to earn the 31-29 win in the first game.

In the second game, N.C. A&T (2-20, 1-1 MEAC) erased a 23-20 deficit to earn a hard-fought 30-28 victory. Outside hitter Krystal Cooper and was a driving force in that game as she collected five of her match-high 17 kills down the stretch for the Aggies.

A point of emphasis for Cooper--she collected 17 kills on 50 attacks with zero (0) errors to her credit.

The third game was another classic in the match as B-CU and N.C. A&T went back-and-forth before a key service ace from the Wildcats' Alyse Guzman and a kill from setter Julie Gibson put the game away.

The fourth game, however, was all about the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman as they raced out to a 20-10 lead and never looked back en route to the win. Playing well in the final game was senior Keisha Vicks with her first solo block of the year to put the match on ice.

B-CU used four players in double-figures, as already stated, and led by Ticeson's 11-kill performance. Goodrum, Vicks and Reina Carson all posted 10 kills, respectively for the Wildcats. Gibson maintained the offense with 40 assists and a season-high 29 digs.

Goodrum and Kaiyana Johnson chipped in as a team with five blocks each.

Cooper's 17 kills and 19 digs led the Aggies. Brendan Chatman helped the Aggies offensive set-up with 43 assists and 17 digs. Behind Cooper was teammate Aundia Gray with 13 kills and just one (1) error ... as well as 7 assisted blocks.

You can catch the `Cats in action again next Thursday night, Oct. 18 at home in the friendly confines of Moore Gymnasium against Jacksonville University. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start, and is free to the public.
