Daytona Beach, Fla. - After finishing the regular season with a 19-3 overall mark and a 9-1 record in conference play, the Bethune-Cookman University women's tennis squad will head to Raleigh, N.C. this weekend for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament with a real fighting chance at earning the conference title.

Head coach Trey Bogue knows his young ladies have fought hard this year, and for that they have been awarded the #2 seed for this weekend's upcoming tournament.

In order to get to the title, the `Cats will have to eventually go through two-time defending champion South Carolina State, currently ranked 75th in the nation.

The Wildcats will begin their quest for their first MEAC title since 2001 on Friday morning at 8:30 against 7th-seeded Coppin State University. The winner of that match will then face-off against the winner of Hampton (#3) vs. Norfolk State (#6) on Saturday at noon.

The MEAC championship match is set for 9 a.m. on Sunday.

S.C. State will be going for their third consecutive conference crown. Hampton will be looking to regain their glory with their first title since 2004. As previously mentioned, the Wildcats will be going for their first since 2001. B-CU has won titles in 1999, 2000 and 2001 while in the MEAC.

This year's tournament is taking place at the Millbrook Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C. For directions and other information on this year's tournament, please call the MEAC Office at (757) 416-7100.
