Chris Cochran enters her second season as Head Coach for the Wildcats Softball program at Bethune-Cookman University. Prior to being appointed Head Coach, Cochran was an assistant softball coach for the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers University. Cochran brings over 20 years of experience to the table starting her coaching career in 1986 at Clear Creek High School in Tiffin, Iowa. While at Clear Creek she led her softball team to three consecutive state tournaments, and in 1991, was named the District Softball Coach of the Year. After her years at Clear Creek she became an assistant coach at Ball State (1992-1994), Marshall (1995-1998), and then Cochran was named head softball coach at Brown University (1998-2001) where she developed two Brown Female Athletes of the Year. After her stint at Brown University, she was brought onto the Iowa State University coaching staff where, in 2002, she was named associate head coach. Cochran's playing experience consists of being a four year member of the University of Iowa softball team (1981-1984). During that time she earned the Women's Intercollegiate Athletics Award and in 1986 she earned her bachelors degree in physical education with a minor in health education. |
