Virginia Beach, Va. - Women's basketball senior forward Natasha Ferguson has been named this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week the league announced on Monday afternoon from the league office in Virginia Beach, Va. The 6-foot-1 senior from Walterboro, S.C. is just a part of the "Palmetto Pals" connection of South Carolina women's basketball players at B-CU. In two games last week, Ferguson averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds per contest. In a tough loss to USC Upstate, Ferguson netted 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats. She was 5-of-11 from the field in that game. She also added five offensive boards in her 10 boards for the game. The second game against Wofford, she posted her second of back-to-back double-doubles with 20 points and 12 rebounds against the Terriers. In that game, she added three assists, two steals and one blocked shot. Ferguson posted a 7-for-18 mark from the field shooting. This is the first MEAC Player of the Week award this season for Natasha Ferguson. This week's Rookie of the Week went to Quanneisha Perry of Hampton who registered 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field against Howard. She also collected seven rebounds for the Lady Pirates. Meanwhile, Defensive Player of the Week was Denise Tate (Florida A&M) who had 28 rebounds in two games for the Lady Rattlers last week. Bethune-Cookman will take to the court again on Saturday, Jan. 12 when they travel to Hampton University for a game set at 4 p.m. inside the HU Convocation Center in Hampton, Va.
