Titusville, Fla. - The men and women's teams for Bethune-Cookman University held fast this past weekend for a sixth place finish in the annual FLrunners.com Invitational held in Titusville, Fla. Junior transfer Alexandria Condell led the way for B-CU on the women's side with a season-best time of 19:10.23 overall. That time allowed her to earn an individual honor with a third place finish for the annual race. For Condell, this was the third time in as many races since arriving at B-CU that she has collected a Top 10 finish for the Wildcats. The `Cats collected a team score of 163 for the event. Behind her was Joy Henry in the 44th spot with a time of 23:33.71, as well as Alfreepha Stubbs in the 52nd overall spot. The University of Miami took first place with a team score of 44, while Embry-Riddle (46) and Nova Southeastern (89) rounded out the top three teams. Miami's Delia Phlatts took the individual honors with a time of 18:47.73 overall. For the men's side of things, Kyle Dillet led the `Cats with a time of 30:48.57 to finish 48th overall. The Wildcats men finished in sixth place with a score of 169. Also running well for Bethune-Cookman were newcomers Joel Redhead (31:30.40) and Harold Rose, Jr. (33:51.45). The overall team winner for the day was the University of Miami, as they swept both the men's and women's event. The Hurricanes collected 19 points to finish atop the heap, while Embry-Riddle (41) and Nova Southeastern (76) rounded out the top three teams for the men.
Miami's Andrew Chuplis collected top honors with a first place finishing mark of 26:57.28 for the Hurricanes. B-CU will get back to the course again when they travel just down the road to nearby DeLand, Fla. to compete in the Stetson Invitational on Oct. 12.
