WACO, Texas - The Baylor offense scored three goals Sunday afternoon, their highest total in conference play to date, but defensive letdowns led to four Missouri goals as the Tigers beat Baylor, 4-3.

Missouri (7-3-2, 2-1-1 Big 12) swept a weekend trip through Texas, defeatingTexas Tech 5-1 Friday in Lubbock and besting the Bears 4-3 Sunday. Baylor (7-5-0, 1-3-0 Big 12), meanwhile, managed only a weekend split -- a disappointing result, considering the Bears have sixth-ranked Texas A&M and fourth-ranked Texas on the schedule next weekend.

As has been their trend of late, Baylor struck early Sunday, as redshirt freshman Tiffany Boshers recorded headed in a pass from junior Candace Reilly at the 4:48 mark for her fourth goal of the season. The 1-0 Baylor lead lasted only three minutes before Missouri's Adrienne Davis tied the score at the 7:43 mark.

Less than 10 minutes later, the Tigers struck again. This time, it was Kristen Heil doing the scoring, putting away an open shot into the left side to give Missouri the lead for good. The Tigers took a two-goal lead at 33:03 when Amber Swineheart scored her fifth goal of the season, a header that put Mizzou up 3-1.

Junior Kate Hensman got the Bears back within striking distance before the half, scoring her first goal of the year. After junior Melissa Humke's long shot from near midfield hit off the crossbar, Hensman was able to head in the rebound to cut the score to 3-2. That lead held through the remainder of the half.

In the second period, neither side scored until MU's Melissa Peabody beat Baylor keeper Tanya Sena one-on-one at 67:41 for the Tigers' fourth goal. This time, Baylor answered quickly, as sophomore Kristin Ruef headed in a pass from Whitney Barrett just two minutes later to again cut the Tiger lead to one. That would be it for the scoring, however, as Missouri held off Baylor for the 4-3 victory.

Baylor finishes off a three-game homestand Friday as No. 6 Texas A&M comes to Waco for a 7 p.m. match. Sunday, the Bears head down Interstate 35 to Austin for a 1 p.m. game against No. 4 Texas.

NOTES: Humke's assist was the first of her three-year career... Baylor once again outshot its opponent, this time by a 16-13 margin. The Bears have outshot the opposition in 10 of 12 games this season, for a combined margin of 201-103.
